Hello everyone! Rising Sun Sports, will be having free lessons on japanese sword fighting every friday!

What is this sport all about? Sports chanbara (Japanese sword fighting) is livelier version of what you see of the old era where samurais spar with each other or go for war. We use a piece of equipment called ActionFlex to simulate the real sword at the same time to reduce injuries and have fun.

In other words, we practice a little bit of kenjutsu and the Japanese culture but when it comes to sparring, it is freestyle.

Just take a look at this link here :D

Things we do : How to handle a Japanese sword.
: Foot work and Cuttings
: Sparring
: Stage performance
: A little bit of training to keep fit.

Location : Amphitheater right across Area C of east coast part. Marine Terrace.

Time : 8pm - 9:30pm.

Things to bring : Extra shirts, Track pants, Water bottle

Must bring : A Wooden sword, ActionFlex Equipment (Long sword and helmet)

For those who will be joining for the 1st time, you need not buy anything, but if you find the program fun and you want to continue, just order the equipment from us.

Hello PEOPLE of SINGAPORE!

To put it in a simple way, Chanbara = Fun, Laughter, Fitness, Mental and Social.

Fun
- We have our very own game type e.g. War games, Ashi Warm up etc.

Laughter
- Ever tried hitting someone and they will still laugh at it? We spar with ActionFlex equipment which simulates the sword. Interestingly, people seems to laugh about it when they get hit, but that is the fun part!

Fitness
- Speed training, Endurance training, Physical training. We will put you to the test, and we will want you to give it your best.

Mental
- Winning is not the only option. You will learn that even though you are good at things, you will still lose at it. BUT! You will also learn from your mistakes and remain calm. In Chanbara, different players have different personality and style, it is possible to win everyone but at a certain difficulty.

Social
- We will hangout for lunch after the session, sometimes we will organise BBQ outings, or to the movies, etc.

Once again,

Where will we be training?
